Objectives

INCLUSO's basic aim is to facilitate the social inclusion of marginalized young people. To achieve this, the INCLUSO partnership puts forward different goals:

  1. To elaborate on the potential created by the use of social software in the area of social inclusion of marginalized youngsters.

  2. To create a stronger RTD capacity through delivery of proof of concept for ICT solutions facilitating social inclusion of marginalized young people.

  3. To define the success criteria for the use of social software in facilitating the social inclusion of marginalized youngsters.

  4. To create working models (patterns) for the implementation of social software in facilitating the social inclusion of marginalized youngsters focussing on 4 different kinds of organizations working in this field. These working models will be published in a Whitebook.

  5. To develop an instrument that measures social inclusion based on social network analysis and the measurement of other indicators.

  6. To develop a business and sustainability model that supports the use of these tools beyond the project boundaries.

  7. To demonstrate that these models effectively support the social inclusion of marginalized youngsters, based on the tool mentioned above.

  8. To explore the potential and use of alternative media (e.g. mobile phones, PSPs, iDTV...) as ways to access social software, in order to both complement its use and to overcome the challenges posed by a lack of regular internet access [1].

  9. To evaluate and implement free and low cost software applications that can be used in this area.

  10. To give input for a future EU research agenda, based on the analysis of best/bad practices, expert, target group inputs and pilots outcomes.

  11. To give input to developers of social software in order to guide them in the development of future products that can better suit the social needs of the target group, thus bridging the socio-technical gap.
